Cromford is a historic village in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales with many grade 1 and 2 listed buildings. Cromford Bridge is more than 500 years old and has a ruined bridge chapel attatched.  It is a scheduled listed monument, one of only two in the Derbyshire Dales.  The world famous Arkwright Mills are located in the village, a Unesco world heritage site.  Cromford Canal is also located on the world heritage site adjacent to Cromford Mill. 

Cromford Canal is a good place to start a walk away from the road with beautiful scenary along the Derwent Valley.  Approximatley one mile along the canal from Cromford Wharf is High Peak Junction which is where the High Peak Trail starts.
